The Strawman’s Verse

“It is time,” said the scarecrow
“For pumpkins to twist and
Tangle across the patch;
For painted leaves to dip
And dive through the glade;
And for Autumn’s mist
To haunt the early morning.

“It is time for the harvest.
Time for forgotten fruits
To form and time for nature
To extend its reach.

“Time for husks to harden.
Time for meat to ripen.
Time for an abundance
Neglected by unnatural men.”
