The Language of the Stars

Red, white and blue
Yellow, orange and black

Sparklers over summer skies
And memories of the past

We sit beneath the falling flares
And lean against the night
As colors spread above the trees
And melt into the air

The children run and dance
The showers rise and fall
Like dissipating smoke
The moment fades

But far above the stars adorn
The ceiling of the world
And wink in ways
That catch us by surprise
