Lost Silence

It has been a while since I’ve been in such silence.

The clock makes its descent as the crickets sing out the last of their Summer songs. The world is chilly again and wool socks wrap my feet in warmth.

Everything slows down and speeds up in these moments. Reality pauses and the future rushes upon you.

Tonight I saw myself wrinkled and at the end of my life looking back, but then I blinked and I was 25 again. Since then my mind has been moving back and forth between the present and things yet to be. It all seems so mysterious. Not simply the future, but the present as well.

There is just something about this silence that engulfs all of eternity with nor regard for the present.
