Love is Like a Poem…

Love is like a poem being written in a heat of inspiration, or like a story being told passionately to another. In such poems and stories there is a merging of many things: a merging of thought, beauty, pain, hardship, reality, imagination, wonder, love, excitement, mystery and inspiration. Their words are laced together with a common thread that inspires others to read or listen to their hearts content and also to tell such stories themselves.

In such a way love is a merging of many things, but most importantly love is the merging of oneself to another. Whether in families, friendships, intimate relationships, or marriages love is always about the giving of oneself to another. It is about merging heart to heart with no regard for self. Love is looking after another’s best interest even if that interest is contrary to your desire. It is about being willing to risk all for the sake of another.

*I recently ‘officiated’ a wedding and I wrote this for the introduction about what what love looks like.*
