Trust is…

Recently, I’ve been learning a lot about what it means to trust someone, and have been taking steps to live in the fullest levels of that trust. Here is a list I compiled to remind myself what trust looks like:

To trust someone is to believe:
– In who they are, not who you want them to be
– That their stories are true
– They will catch you when you jump
– They will catch you when you fall
– They will handle the deepest corner of your heart with compassion & care
– That they have your best intentions in mind even when they are far off
– They can handle situations you are unfamiliar with
– They will keep you safe when they say they will
– They will be there for you even when you fail them
– That they love you even if you do not hear them say it

To trust is to:
– Give control rather than maintain control
– Let someone tell you how they see you (the good and the bad)
– Allow someone to journey with you and help you become a better person
– Open yourself to someone and risk getting hurt because you believe in their character so much
– Entrust all of oneself without proof of the outcome
– To love someone when you are most afraid

What are some other characteristics of trust?
