The Rainbow’s Reflection

Painting with strokes that bring canvas to life,
Presenting promises and hope anew,
Portraying an image subject to strife,
Picturing vibrant colors breaking through.
Splashes of color across clouds of cotton,
Silently screaming for no one to miss,
Some image of faith not soon forgotten,
Sunrays expose such expression of bliss.
Feeling unsure about hues left undone,
Figuring ways to make the correction,
Fixing the painting with strokes one-by-one,
Finding out the whole rainbow’s reflection.
Knowledge from experience one should know,
That rain must come before every rainbow.

*Damaris is a student in my youth ministry. She wrote this Shakespearean sonnet for a class in school and I asked if I could share it with you. She is a junior in school and is an aspiring poet and writer (she is currently working on a book). I’m really excited to see all the places her writing takes her!*
