Seasonal Battle

Moments have begun. Morning is slowly easing into existence and we are slowly waking up to it. It greets us with a chill that reminds us of the current transition. The icy fingers of Winter grip at our toes while the warm fists of Summer fight to keep them at bay. Winter is fighting to keep everything barren while Summer is battling to keep everything green. Winter longs for death and Summer longs for life.

The battle will continue on until April presses hard on the enemy. (Though truth be told: no seasons are the enemy, rather, it comes down to the desired perspective of the individual). We know who will win, though: the season that comes after is always victorious. Our hope, in this moment, is that history will repeat itself as we look forward to all the life and warmth that this transitionary season can bring. We hope that Spring can bridge the gap between Winter and Summer peacefully.

For now, however, I’ll greet my mornings with wool socks and flannel.
